Free each-way bet calculator

An each-way (E/W) bet is really two bets in one: half your stake on the selection to win, and half on it to place — finish in the top few, as set by the bookmaker's place terms. This calculator works out your total return for both parts instantly. Just enter your stake, the odds and the each-way terms.

The win part pays at full odds if your selection wins. The place part pays at a fraction of the odds (commonly 1/4 or 1/5) if it finishes within the places. Add them together for your total return:

A £10 each-way bet (£20 total) at odds of 6.0, place terms 1/4 the odds:

When each-way is worth it

Each-way shines on bigger-priced selections in events that pay several places — outright winners, tournament markets and longer-priced horses. On short prices it rarely makes sense. Pair it with our accumulator calculator for each-way multiples, and the bet calculator for straight win bets.
